Born to the Khan of a star-charting merchant clan known as the Saal Tribe, expectations of greatness have followed Nimna since her conception.
Ordinarily, the Saal clan would anoint two heirs: twins, one to serve as udgan and the other as khan. However, neither of Nimna’s parents could have foreseen her voracious prenatal appetite. She devoured her twin in the womb, resulting in her own healthy 8-pound birth. Her first casualty.Despite this unsettling beginning, Nimna quickly became the apple of her parents’ eye, enjoying a normal childhood until around the age of six, when her "curse" began to manifest. She started experiencing haunting visions of a star shower falling from a burning sky, accompanied by an unnatural awareness of everything around her. Baffled by this strange affliction, Nimna was isolated from the other children, raising her apart from the tribe with only her sympathetic parents for company. They devoted themselves to teaching her the ways of star magic, music, textiles, the traditions of the Steppe, and, of course, how to kill.Just before her 14th birthday, tragedy struck. A swift, silent plague epidemic swept through the Saal clan, forcing Nimna's parents to make the difficult decision to send her away on a coming-of-age pilgrimage, accompanied by her grandmother, Faya.In Ul'Dah, a city known for its corruption and criminal underbelly, Nimna was left to navigate this unfamiliar and dangerous place with only her elderly grandmother by her side. She learned that the best way to thrive in such an environment was to befriend the locals!It was spectating a particularly brutal match at the Gladiator’s Arena where Nimna met Hephaestion VI, a jaded and depressed Hrothgar. Initially skeptical and uninterested, Heph found himself won over by Nimna's earnest charm and reluctantly agreed to become her bodyguard. Over time, their bond grew, and he became her steadfast companion, offering support throughout their adventures in Eorzea.Word of Nimna’s peculiar gift—the Echo— soon reached the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Intrigued by her potential, they approached her with an invitation to join them as their Warrior of Light.The world was far bigger than Nimna had ever imagined, and its horizons continued to expand before her.
